IN THE COMMUNITY
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Since 1988, C3TS has flourished from a small company led by three friends to a respected firm with well over one hundred employees. One of the things that has remained constant is our commitment to the community in which we live and work. C3TS’ passion for service can be found wherever we call home, whether in Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange or Palm Beach County. C3TS’ dedication to service encompasses a myriad of endeavors, including:
FLORIDA ENGINEERING SOCIETY (FES)
C3TS is proud to be a longstanding member of FES. The FES mission is to “support engineering education, advocate licensure, promote the ethical and competent practice of engineering and enhance the image and well-being of all engineers in the state of Florida.”
Some of our members have recently been elected to very important positions. These include:
Terrance N. Glunt, PE – newly elected National Society of Professional Engineers / Professional Engineers in Private Practice (NSPE / PEPP) Representative for the FICE (Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers)
Tomas Ruiz, PE, CFM, LEED AP – newly elected FES President of the Miami-Dade Chapter
Dave E. Clarke, PE – newly elected Member of the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Chapter
AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION
Each year, thousands of people participate in American Diabetes Association events and fund raisers to increase awareness of diabetes and raise needed funds to support their mission. C3TS has joined in the fight to help cure diabetes! One of the biggest fundraising events for the ADA is the “Step Out” to Fight Diabetes Walk. We hope that through bake sales, donations and the 5K walk, C3TS will be able to help ADA find a cure for diabetes.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION
The City of North Miami Beach is making strides in the education of water conservation and preservation. They have developed the Foundation for Water & Environmental Education in order to inspire communities to conserve water and environmental resources. As a water and environmental resource professional, C3TS’ support of this program helps deliver quality conservation programs and other-water related education efforts to thousands of residents throughout the North Miami Beach utility services area. C3TS is honored to help North Miami Beach benefit the community through environmental awareness and education.
MATHCOUNTS
MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle schools’ mathematics achievement throughout the United States. After several months of coaching, participating schools select students to complete individually or as part of a team in one of the more than 500 written and oral competitions held nationwide and in U.S. schools overseas. Winners at the local level proceed to state competitions, where the top 4 “Mathletes” and top coach earn the right to represent their state or territory at the national level. At all levels, MATHCOUNTS challenges students’ math skills, develops their self-confidence and rewards them for their achievements.
The Florida Engineering Society (FES) sponsors the competitions on a yearly basis and C3TS employees often volunteer to proctor and judge the competition, as well as help with the registration, distribution of lunch, and grading of the event.
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is an
annual 5K walk host by the American Cancer Society
in which C3TS participates in and is a Bronze Level
sponsor.
MERCEDES BENZ CORPORATE RUN
The Mercedes Benz Corporate Run is an annual
event with a mission to promote physical health in its
participants, thereby helping them better handle stress. The
Corporate Run creates a spirit of friendly competition
amongst teams of runners within corporations, government
agencies, and financial institutions. All proceeds
are donated to the South Florida chapter of the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society. C3TS participates annually
and takes this opportunity to bring all employees from
our four branch offices together under one tent to exercise,
eat, and socialize with other companies.
Our firm is also committed to providing community
service to promote the education of the architectural
and engineering fields to future professionals. Our
annual participation includes events such as:
FUTURE CITIES
Future Cities is an Engineers
Week sponsored competition aimed for students from
the 7th and 8th grades. The annual competition
combines stimulating engineering challenges along
with “hands-on” application to enable
the student based teams to create their vision
of a futuristic city. C3TS’ involvement
includes judging, mentoring of teams, and donating
of funds. We also help organize this event
which takes place at Florida International University’s
School of Engineering. C3TS mentors have
successfully taken two teams to the National Competition
and ranked as high as 2nd place.
MECCA
C3TS
received a MECCA (Magnet Academy for Engineering, Commercial
Arts, & Architecture) Community Partnership
award.
VOLUNTEER PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY
Our principals/staff
volunteers regularly to lead a Miami-Dade County
Public School for one day. This entails talking
with the students about future careers and the importance
of higher education.
SECME
C3TS has also played
a vital role in the SECME (Science Engineering
Communications Mathematics Enhancement) Program,
serving as Co-Olympiad Coordinators and Judges
for the various competitions.
